Zhou Zhonghe

Zhou Zhonghe ( Chinese  = 周忠 和 , Pinyin Zhōu Zhōnghé ; born January 19, 1965 in Jiangdu , Jiangsu Province ) is a Chinese paleontologist . He is one of the first to describe the fossil remains of the primeval bird Confuciusornis .

Zhou graduated from Nanjing University and then worked at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing .

Zhou emerged from research on the bird world of the Mesozoic ( Mesozoic Era) in China . He is a leading expert on the early evolution of birds .

In 2010 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences .
