Zhu Jun

Zhu Jun ( Chinese 朱俊 ; born July 2, 1984 in Gaoyou , Jiangsu Province ) is a Chinese foil fencer .

Career

Zhu went to Yangzhou Sports School in Jiangsu Province when he was ten. The following year he moved to the Guangzhou Sports School. Since 2002 he has been training with the national team of China at the Guangdong Sports College.

Zhu achieved his first major international success at the 2004 Junior World Cup in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, when he won the title in both individual and team competitions. Two years later, as a member of the Chinese national team, he won the gold medal in the team competition at the Asian Games in Doha in 2006 .

At the Summer Olympics he made it through to the semi-finals, but was clearly defeated by the later Olympic champion Benjamin Kleibrink (Germany). In the subsequent battle for the bronze medal, he was defeated by the Italian Salvatore Sanzo by just under 14:15 and was fourth in the end.

At the 2009 World Cup in Antalya, he won the silver medal after losing to Andrea Baldini (Italy) in the final .

In 2010 and 2011 he won bronze in the foil singles at the Asian Championships. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , he finished 27th.
