The company Zickenheiner GmbH is a transport company based in the Rhineland-Palatinate Koblenz . The bus company operates bus routes in northern Rhineland-Palatinate in the area of ​​the Rhein-Mosel transport association . It has 50 buses and around 70 employees.

history

Zickenheiner GmbH was founded in 1928 by Heinrich Zickenheiner and named after him. At the beginning the buses drove from the Westerwald to Neuwied , a truck converted for passenger transport was used. In 1935 the company began transporting workers from the Westerwald to the “Hermannshütte” (later known as Dyckerhoff ).

Gradually, Zickenheiner GmbH also took over regional transport lines in the northeastern Rhineland-Palatinate in the districts of Cochem-Zell , Altenkirchen and Neuwied as well as the Rhein-Hunsrück district .

In addition, the company operates the city bus route 27 in the local public transport system in Koblenz . In 2013, two new buses equipped with a hybrid engine were purchased for this line . These were the first two buses with hybrid engines to be used in local public transport in Rhineland-Palatinate. The approval for line 27 expired in 2018.

On May 1, 2016, Zickenheiner took over line 107 between Bendorf and Neuwied , for which another 5 buses with hybrid engines were purchased. The company operates a total of ten hybrid buses, which as of 2017 are the only ones registered in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In 2019, the Zickenheiner Group expanded its line area in the Rhine-Hunsrück district by winning the permits for the line bundles "Upper Middle Rhine Valley" (Koblenz-Boppard-Oberwesel area) and "Hunsrückhöhenstraße Nord" (Koblenz-Emmelshausen-Kastellaun-Simmern area and Koblenz) Cock). These permits run until 2029.
