content

The main character is the 19-year-old Pascal, who is a notorious cross-head with a no-goat attitude. He lives in a suburb of Zurich with his single mother . After breaking off his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he works as a pizza courier.

When Pascal received the marching orders for the recruit school one day , he was forced to join the RS. Right from the start he defied the orders of his superior, Oberwachtmeister Bodenmann. As a result, he meets the commanding officer, Colonel Zünd, who notices that Pascal only lacks one goal in life and encourages him. In the RS, Pascal learns to develop team spirit and to take responsibility. This lets him experience the feeling of appreciation and friendship for the first time.

After completing the RS, he would like to complete his aborted carpenter apprenticeship. At the same time he is interested in the beautiful student Leila, whom he met at the end of the RS, and wants to conquer her. But it just doesn't work with his restart. Because all of his applications for an apprenticeship are rejected because of his insufficient grades. It hits him very hard that nobody wants to give him a second chance. When Leila also goes abroad for a semester to study, his recently acquired self-confidence is affected. Now the old behavioral patterns are slowly coming back, which ultimately lead him to shoot around at random with his assault rifle , which he keeps at home as usual in Switzerland, and to kill five people.

background

The story is based on the true Hönggerberg murder , in which a young man shot a girl with his assault rifle at a bus stop for no discernible motive on the day he returned from the recruiting school. Hilber read this in the newspapers in 2007. He then developed the film aimlessly .

The director is not interested in this case, but in the question of why young men are so frustrated that such outbursts of violence occur. The film depicts the current situation of boys and shows ways in which these developments could be stopped and shows that young people with academic or psychological impairments should be given the chance of an apprenticeship despite all the difficulties.
