from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The murder of Francesca P. on November 23, 2007 by the soldier Luis W. in Zurich , who returned from military service on the same Friday after completing the recruiting school, is described as the Hönggerberg murder case .

Sequence of events

The sixteen-year-old coiffure teacher and native Italian Francesca P. waited with her boyfriend at the bus stop Hönggerberg on line 80 of the VBZ . She was on her way to her father's birthday party in Oerlikon . Shortly before 10:15 p.m., she was hit in the upper body with a targeted shot and died a little later. The shot was fired by Luis W. from a nearby hill northeast of Emil-Klöti-Strasse from a distance of around eighty meters. He used his orderly weapon of the Swiss Army , the assault rifle 90 , and a cartridge stolen from military service. Francesca's friend stopped a car with three occupants shortly after the crime, who alerted the police.

Luis W. did not know Francesca. She was chosen by him as a victim at random.

The police cordoned off the area around the crime scene and searched the area with a larger contingent of officers. Luis W. was arrested two days later, on Sunday evening, November 25th, and confessed to the crime. He couldn't give a motive. He was arrested because an eyewitness saw him in the area of the bus stop with a camouflage jacket and assault rifle shortly before the crime .

background

Luis W. is a Swiss citizen and Chilean adopted son of a Swiss family in Islisberg . At the age of sixteen, he joined a punk group that often stayed at Lake Zurich or the area around Stadelhofen train station . He is described by friends as an aggressive personality.

He did not complete any training after elementary school, but had various odd jobs, e.g. B. in a joinery and in a call center. Most recently, he was employed part-time at Delta Security in Zurich as an usher at major events and after finishing the artillery recruiting school, wanted to work full-time with this company. Luis W. had a double criminal record. In 2005 he committed a minor property offense. On January 29, 2006, during protests against the World Economic Forum , he threw a Molotov cocktail into the entrance hall of the Osec export promotion organization in Zurich. Francesca was buried on Friday, November 30th at the Eichbühl cemetery in Altstetten . 800 people said goodbye to her.

Luis W. was sentenced in August 2009 for murder to 17 years' imprisonment, postponed in favor of an inpatient measure. In 2014, the inpatient measure was extended by five years.

Political Consequences

The murder case had sparked various political discussions.

First, it was discussed whether the security in the military is inadequate. The cartridge stolen from a criminal offender raised doubts about the necessary controls by the military.

Second, there was a renewed discussion of the longstanding discussion about the sense of handing over an orderly weapon to members of the army and keeping it at home. The initiative "For the protection against armed violence" of the national councilors Chantal Galladé and Daniel Jositsch , which had the aim of keeping the military weapon in the armory , gained popularity.

Thirdly, in the spring of 2008, members of the Swiss army dumped weapons illegally in the armories of Zurich and St. Gallen . In Zurich, the government council had to decide on any sanctions. In St. Gallen, a flat share resident was allowed to deposit his personal orderly weapon in the armory. Fourth, due to the discovery of a number of first-person shooter games in the perpetrator's apartment, consideration was given to a ban on such games.

Artistic processing

The idea for the film Ziellos , which was released in 2014, arose from reporting on the murder case.
