The Zimtkopf Green Pigeon ( Treron fulvicollis ) is a type of green pigeon in the family of pigeons birds . It is widespread in several subspecies in Southeast Asia .

Appearance

The cinnamon-head green pigeon reaches a body length of 27 centimeters. It is about the size of a laughing dove . However, compared to this one, it is a bit clumsier and the tail is shorter. There is a clear gender dimorphism .

The males of the cinnamon-head green pigeon have a red-brown head and neck. The chest is golden green. On the coat, the red-brown color changes to purple. The flanks are gray-green, the belly yellow-green. The outer tail feathers are gray-green and have a black lower end with pale gray ends. The beak is light and turns bluish green towards the tip. The base of the beak is dark red. Feet and legs are reddish. The females differ from the males by having a yellow-green breast and a gray forehead. Fledglings are similar to the female.

Distribution area and habitat

The distribution area of ​​the cinnamon-head green pigeon is relatively large and extends from Burma and Thailand to the islands of Sumatra , Belitung , Bangka and Borneo , there to Sarawak . Cinnamon head green pigeons are forest-dwelling species. They are found mainly in forest areas and mangrove thickets not far from the coast. The nest is built in trees or bushes. The clutch comprises two eggs.

The species was by Johann Georg Wagler 1827 as Columba fulvicollis described .
