Cinnamic acid amide ( trans -3-phenylacrylic acid amide ) belongs to the group of aromatics and is an unsaturated carboxylic acid amide with a trans -substituted carbon-carbon double bond in the side chain. The isomeric cis -cinnamic acid amide is of little importance. The information in this article relates only to trans -cinnamic acid amide.
presentation
trans -cinnamic acid amide is obtained from trans -cinnamic acid chloride by reaction with ammonia (NH 3 ).
Reactions
The dehydration of trans -cinnamic acid amide yields trans -cinnamic acid nitrile .
