The Zinnschützweiher is an artificially created pond two kilometers west of Leupoldsdorferhammer , municipality of Tröstau in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains . It is 663 meters high at the foot of the lake hill in the mountain range of the Schneeberg , in the dense forest of the Bavarian state forests.
history
The historic water dam, which is filled by several small streams, is located in one of the oldest tin mining areas in the Fichtelgebirge, which has been documented since 1481. With its water, the tin ore was washed out of the soil in the tin soaps located downstream, a process known as soaping.
