Zollfahndung is a crime series, 13 episodes of which were produced by the German television network and 12 of them were broadcast in its 1st program in 1970 and 1971.

The focus of the series is on three customs officers who investigate and clear up cases of border smuggling or help to escape. As was common in other GDR crime series (for example blue light ) at the time, the perpetrators were usually citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the acts themselves also originated in the neighboring German state.

Writer and director Celino Bleiweiß worked closely with the GDR customs investigation team on the series, which was shot in black and white. Customs investigation was extremely popular with television audiences, with ratings of up to 60% being achieved. Literally it said in issue 9/1971 of the program magazine FF : " In exciting stories the series tells of the tasks of our customs investigation organs, which daily defend the security of our borders and thus our economy against the customs crimes directed by the enemy. "
The broadcast initially took place at weekly intervals, after January 19, 1971 only irregularly. Of the 13 episodes filmed, the last episode was never broadcast for unknown reasons.
