Zoltán Csernai

Zoltán Csernai (born January 21, 1925 in Békéscsaba ; died November 26, 2005 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian science fiction writer.

Life

After studying economics, Csernai worked in the sugar industry. After 1957 he began to write reports and then also short stories for newspapers and magazines.

In 1961 his first novel Titok a világ tetején (German Secret on the Roof of the World ) appeared, which forms a trilogy together with the two following Az özönvíz balladája (1964, German ballad of the flood ) and Atleóntisz (1971, German Atlantis ), in which is about extraterrestrial visitors who landed on earth in the past. In the first two, the legendary snow people in the Himalayas are their descendants. Both volumes have been published in German translation as a book for young people, slightly abridged. In the last volume, the survivors of a catastrophic war on the fourth planet of the sun, Orgone, look for a new home on earth and found the mythical realm of Atlantis on the Mediterranean island of Thera . The novel Tollaskígyó utolsó visszatérése , published in 1987, follows on from the trilogy.
