Zora Simčáková (born March 27, 1963 in Liptovský Hrádok as Zora Kepeňová ) is a former Czechoslovak cross-country skier .

Career

Simčáková had her first international success at the 1983 Winter Universiade in Sofia . There she won silver with the relay. Two years later she won gold with the relay at the Winter Universiade in Belluno . At the 1989 World Championships in Lahti , she ran on 42nd place over 10 km freestyle, 31st place over 10 km classic and 29th place over 15 km classic. In addition, she won there together with Ľubomíra Balážová , Anna Janoušková and Alžbeta Havrančíková in fifth place in the season. In February 1990 she got her first World Cup points in Bohinj with the 14th place over 10 km classic. This was also her best individual placement in the World Cup and at the end of the season she achieved her best overall result with 33rd place in the overall World Cup. Her best placement at the 1991 World Championships in Val di Fiemme was 22nd place over 15 km classic. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , she came in 30th place over 30 km freestyle and 18th place over 15 km classic.

At the Czechoslovak Championships Simčáková won twice with the relay of Tesla Liptovský Hrádok (1989, 1990) and over 15 km (1990, 1991). In addition, she was Czechoslovak junior champion over 5 km and 10 km in 1981 and 1982.
