description

By resolution of the noble brothers Moritz and Wilhelm von Buttlar in 1670, the church was built from 1672 to 1683 . The massive hall church made of quarry stone has a massive choir tower in the east. An originally open half-timbered storey rises on the stone floors , on which sits a slate-covered, recessed bell storey, which is covered with a hood , which is continued with a lantern . In the south there is a half-timbered stair tower . The portal in the north has gussets in relief .

In the choir are the gravestones of the von Buttlar family from the 17th century. In 1834/1844 the interior was renewed . The choir arch from 1680 is located between the nave and the choir . The stone altar is also from this period . The stone pulpit has a relief with the figures of Christ Salvator , Moses and John the Evangelist . The flat-roofed interior has galleries with carved parapets . In 1945 the church became the property of the Bad Salzungen parish. In 1982 a new interior renovation began, and the pews were replaced with chairs. The church was rededicated in October 1991.
