The Zotzensee is a lake in the municipality of Mirow in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The almost circular lake is 1480 meters long and up to 850 meters wide. The lake shore is swampy and unforested. The Havel flows through the lake in a north-south direction. This is a popular paddling water here.
The name is probably derived from the Slavic sosna for pine .
The Zotzensee is located in the Müritz National Park . Between 1999 and 2003, an EU-funded LIFE project was carried out to raise the water level in the Zotzensee and the surrounding areas.
