The Zub Lake ( Russian Озеро Зуб Osero Sub , German 'Zahnsee' , Norwegian Tannvatnet ) is an 800 m long lake on the Princess Astrid coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located 1.5 km east-southeast of Tsentral'naya Hill in the Schirmacher Oasis .
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it in 1961 and gave it its descriptive name based on its shape. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Russian designation in 1970 in a partial translation into English. Indian scholars named it Lake Priyadarshini (from Sanskrit for one who looks at things with kindness ).
