Zumdorf is a hamlet (more of a single settlement ) in the municipality of Hospental in the canton of Uri in Switzerland .

geography

The hamlet of Zumdorf is located in the south of Uris in the Urserental between Hospental and Realp and politically belongs to the municipality of Hospental.

History and population

Zumdorf had 50 inhabitants until 1851, but was then buried by a huge avalanche. Zumdorf is currently (2017) inhabited all year round by a single family consisting of three people and has been officially declared the “smallest village in Switzerland”.
