The Zunderkopf is the second peak in the Archtalgrat, which borders the Archtal with the distinctive Kistenkar to the west. This is followed by the Archtalwand and Archtalkopf , the latter already in the main range of the Estergebirge. The summit is accessible from Eschenlohe as a difficult mountain tour, unmarked.

The Zunderkopf is one of three peaks in the area of about 5 kilometers that bear this name. It lies above the Loisach valley in the north with the Pfrühlmoos . Together with the above-mentioned peaks, it belongs to the foothills of the Estergebirge . Located in close proximity to the Zundereck , it is in the municipality of Eschenlohe in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district .
