As a reminder, there is a song by the German rapper Ferris MC . The song is the first single from his fourth studio album Audiobiography and was released on September 29, 2003.

background

In 2002 and 2003, when Ferris wrote the lyrics for the album Audiobiography and thus also In Remembrance , he was in financial straits. Only with the success of the hit single were his financial worries resolved. According to his own statement, the song is based on a true story.

content

The song is about the friendship between Ferris MC and his best buddy and is performed by the rapper in the past tense: Both met in the day care center and became best friends when they were nine. Soon after, they had their first experiences with alcohol and pornography . They skipped school and preferred to surround themselves with the elderly and mostly unemployed people through whom they came into contact with drugs such as hashish . Their curiosity grew and both broke into cars, houses and shops and at the age of 14 lived only from parties and drugs. Ferris' friend eventually suffered anxiety and psychosis due to drug abuse , which is why he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. There he was given psychotropic drugs , which made his condition even worse. After he was released from psychiatry and his grandmother died, he committed at age 19 suicide by throwing himself under a truck.

Peter Thorwarth directed the video for the song, which is based heavily on the text .

At first, Ferris MC walks through a cemetery in the rain. As he starts rapping, recap of childhood of him and his friend is shown. Both drink alcohol and watch pornographic magazines while Ferris' mother gets upset about the lifestyle. They smoke cannabis , break into cars, and fight other teenagers. The debauchery is getting bigger and bigger and both are sniffing glue, setting fire to a Mercedes and taking part in excessive parties. Ferris' friend eventually suffers psychosis, is picked up by ambulance and taken to a mental hospital, where he is immobilized. When Ferris visits him there, his buddy no longer notices him and hardly shows any emotion. In the end, the friend throws himself off a motorway bridge in front of a truck. In between scenes are shown of Ferris MC rapping in front of a tombstone in the rain.

As a souvenir , it entered the German singles charts on October 13, 2003 and reached the top position on November 24 at number 9. In total, the song stayed in the top 100 for 18 weeks. In Austria the song was ranked 67th (5 weeks) and in Switzerland 49th (7 weeks).

In the German annual charts for 2003 , the single occupied position 64.
