Vanessa Struhler (born November 4, 1985 in Oberhausen ), known by her stage name Vanessa S. , is a German singer of Filipino origin, who became known through the first season of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar, which was broadcast from 2002 .

Germany seeks the superstar

Vanessa Struhler was able to convince the jury in the top 30 shows with the song Fallin ' by Alicia Keys and made it into the motto shows as a candidate for replacement. In the first season, the top 30 appeared divided into three blocks of ten and three candidates from each group of ten made it into the motto shows immediately, while after all three top 30 shows only one of the three fourth-placed could also move into the motto shows.

Already in the first show she was able to convince with When You Look at Me by Christina Milian . In the second motto show, which was themed ballads, the then 17-year-old Save the Best for Last sang and made it to third place in the audience voting. In the weeks that followed, she was called forward several times. Although she did not always have the second fewest votes, the jury often named her as a wobbly candidate. On February 8, 2003 Struhler retired in fourth place.

Career

As the fourth of the DSDS singers, Struhler released their first single Ride or Die (I Need You) in April 2003 with the German rapper Trooper Da Don . The song rose from zero to one in the trend charts on the first day of sale, then landed at number four at the end of the week.

In the summer of 2003 Struhler released her second single Fiesta for the first time under her stage name VANESSA S. , which she had recorded with Ferris MC . In August 2003, Struhler's first album Ride with Me was released . The long player contains 14 trendy R&B tracks that she recorded in Sweden within ten days. Another single followed in September with the double A single Ey Ey Ey / Back to Life (cover version of the title Back to Life (However Do You Want Me) by Soul II Soul ), on which Struhler was supported by a rapper . The song made it into the top 20 of the charts for a few weeks. In December, the next and last single, the ballad One Single Tear, followed .

The second album Independence could not be released by BMG in October 2004 , because BMG had terminated the contracts with Struhler and the other DSDS singers. It was released on the Freshline Records label in Berlin. For Independence , Struhler contributed his own pieces for the first time. Blah, Blah, Blah was the name of the first single from this album. In it she processes her experience with the superficial media and music business: “A lot is just blah, blah, blah.” At the end of September she went on tour as the opening act for Dante Thomas in Germany and Switzerland.

In October 2004 Struhler published her own comic ( First Class ), which summarizes her previous experiences during her career. The pictures were drawn by Michael Strogies , Struhler wrote the story himself. After the originally planned DSDS colleague Gracia Baur refused to sing in the opening act for the Estonian girl group Vanilla Ninja , Struhler jumped in in her place and toured Germany with the band in April 2005. In 2006 she made a feature on the albums of the German rapper Taichi ( Top Story -Song: Leb dein Traum ) and Robird Styles ( Charter flight -Song: Infinity ). In 2007 she was also involved in two features on the album of the German rapper Taichi ( No choice and I think of you Pt. 2 ).
