Two Men and a Closet is a fifteen-minute short film by Roman Polański from 1958.

action

On a sunny day, two men carrying a wardrobe climb from the Baltic Sea to the beach in Sopot . They are doing their best to bring the cabinet safely ashore. The closet connects the two, chains them together. Only together are they able to move the cabinet forward. When they finally arrive at the beach, they carry the closet aimlessly through the city. People who meet them run away from them or abuse them. You are afraid of the two friends. Or is it the secret of the closet or their absurd actions? After an odyssey through the city, they end up on the beach again and disappear into the waters of the Baltic Sea.

The short film has no dialogues, but is carried by the jazzy music of the young pianist and composer Krzysztof Komeda , who also wrote the music for other Polański films in the 1960s.

Awards

Roman Polanski showed the film in 1958 on the San Francisco - Film Festival and won the Golden Gate Award .
