The Zwenewaldbach , in the upper reaches of Glauritbach , is a creek in the municipality of Hopfgarten in Defereggen ( Lienz district ). The Zwenewaldbach rises in the Villgraten Mountains and flows into the Schwarzach at Innerhopfgarten .

course

The Zwenewaldbach is fed by the outflows of the Pumpersee and the Geigersee, which are located below Kugelspitze , Regenstein , Beim Kreuz and Hochegg . After the two outflows have merged, the stream flows north through the so-called window path and then falls over a waterfall. As a result, the stream flows through the Goritzwald and takes the Gagenalmbach on the left. Until it merges with the Gagenalmbach, the water is known as the Glauritbach, below it is called Zwenewaldbach. The Zwenewaldbach then flows in a north-northeastern direction past the Zwenewaldalm and Kloitzalm, taking in the Blitzbach on the right before the Zwenewaldalm. In the lower reaches of the Zwenewaldbach falls down a forest gorge before flowing into the Schwarzach in Innerhopfgarten.

Energy use

The Zwenewaldbach power plant went into operation in April 1970. At that time it delivered a bottleneck power of 1500 kW and had a standard energy capacity of 9,000,000 kWh. With the construction of the power plant, the "Hopfgarten Electric Works Cooperative" was able to secure the power supply for the entire Hopfgarten municipality. In 2006 and 2008, power plants were also put into operation on the Gagenalmbach and Glauritbach source streams. The Gagenalmbach power plant has a bottleneck output of 465 kW and a standard energy capacity of 2,046,000 kWh, the Glauritbach power plant a bottleneck capacity of 36 kW and a standard energy capacity of 177,000 kWh. In 2015, the new construction of the Zwenewaldbach power plant went into operation, with the pipeline also being renewed with a modified route.
