Zygmunt Noskowski (born May 2, 1846 in Warsaw ; † July 23, 1909 there ) was a Polish composer, conductor and music teacher.

Live and act

Zygmunt Noskowski studied with Stanisław Moniuszko . He worked as a teacher at the Institute for the Blind in Warsaw and invented notation for the blind. After further studies with Friedrich Kiel in Berlin, he became the city music director in Konstanz .

On his return to Warsaw in 1881 he became the conductor of the Music Society and in 1888 a teacher at the Conservatory . His students included u. a. Mieczysław Karłowicz , Ludomir Różycki , Grzegorz Fitelberg , Apolinary Szeluto and Karol Szymanowski .

From 1904 he was second conductor of the Warsaw Philharmonic , from 1906 also second conductor of the city ​​opera .

Works

In addition to operas, operettas and a ballet, he composed three symphonies and several symphonic poems, overtures, chamber music works, piano pieces, choral music and songs.
