The village is situated in the south-west of the county, near the border with [[Hungary]]. The settlement lies along the river [[Crișul Negru]] and is composed of four villages: Arpășel (''Árpád''; ''Arpat''), Batăr, Talpoș (''Talpas''), and Tăut (''Feketetót'').

Commune extends into an area of plain (Plain Crişurilor), suitable for cultivation of cereals. Agricultural work is carried out extensively on the thousands of hectares fertile. The inhabitants are mainly dealing with agriculture, and some working in the bakery or in the textile city neighbor, [[Salonta]].

Public roads are mostly asphalt, the main street parcusul being a gas station.

Batăr (Hungarian: Feketebátor; Turkish: Fektebatur) is a commune located in Bihor County, Crișana, Romania. The village is situated in the south-west of the county, near the border with Hungary. The settlement lies along the river Crișul Negru and is composed of four villages: Arpășel (Árpád; Arpat), Batăr, Talpoș (Talpas), and Tăut (Feketetót).

At the 2021 census, the commune had a population of 4,922; of those, 46.42% were Romanians, 32.02% Roma, and 12.15% Hungarians.[3]
