Nominjin (Mongolian: Номинжин; * 9. Nov. 1989) is a Mongolian rhythm and blues singer and song-writer whose career did not take off and who is now trying to set up an English language course in Mongolia as a fall-back plan. She is virtually unknown in Mongolia and completely anonymous in the US and England. [1]

Early life

Raised by her Mongolian biological mother and American stepfather, she has lived in Russia, Mongolia, India, and the Caribbean due to her parents' work; as a result, she speaks fluent English and Mongolian and several other languages including Russian and Malayalam. Some media reports state that she speaks English better than Mongolian.[2][3]

Career

Nominjin launched her career in 2003 at age 14 after studying under vocal coach Roger Love.[1] She has toured abroad in Russia (Irkutsk), the United States (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.), Turkey, India, the Caribbean, Singapore, South Korea, France, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.[2][3] According to her website she has performed in front of crowds of more than 40,000 people on numerous occasions, including at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.[citation needed]

In 2005, she contributed her voice to the John Lennon remix album Peace, Love & Truth.[4] In 2007, EMI Records released her cover of "Take Me to Your Heart" on the compilation Best of 10 Years: Love. She has had more than ten #1 hits, released more than 12 music videos, and won numerous awards. Her biggest career hit was performed with Bold, a member of Camerton; she sang numerous songs for his first album.[citation needed]

Nominjin has performed alongside such global greats as Erin Hill (Billboard #1 artist), Shoji (Grammy nominated 2010), Kenny Endo (soundtrack of Apocalypse Now) and Rupert Hine (producer of Tina Turner, Duncan Sheik and many others) and others. Nominjin has studied under World renowned vocal coaches Roger Love (2003–2008), Khongorzul (2009) and Paulette McWilliams (2010).

Nominjin has been a featured singer and sometimes host of major performances in 13 countries, including a 50,000 person peace festival at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, co-hosting and performing for an international conference of 30,000 in Thailand, co-hosting and featured singer for an 80,000 person concert in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia and co-hosting a MTV show. She has performed multiple times for foreign and Mongolian audiences in the USA and has toured in Turkey, Thailand, India, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Russia, the Caribbean, Mexico, and France.

Nominjin is currently the focus of an international pro-vegetarian and anti-fur ad campaign by PETA[5] Next to English and Mongolian, Nominjin also sings in Hindi, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese Korean and Japanese. Having lived in Mongolia, the Caribbean, the USA, India and Russia, she is multi-lingual. As a song-writer, with nearly 100 songs thus far penned, all songs on her latest album were written by her (both words and music).
