Queens Plaza Park was a proposed residential building, to be built in Queens.[1] The building would have superseded One Court Square as the tallest in Queens, as well as the tallest building in New York City outside of Manhattan. The building was one of many planned in Queens Plaza due to a 2001 rezoning.[2] When complete, the development will incorporate the Bank of Manhattan Company building.
History
The site was originally supposed to hold a 16-story hotel, but economic downturn caused the developers to enter bankruptcy. Steve Cheung then purchased the location for $8.3 million, intending to build a 30-story condominium tower. Cheung then sold the plot for $46.3 million to Hakim and PMG.[3] The new building might have been the first supertall skyscraper in New York City outside Manhattan, unless 340 Flatbush Avenue is finished beforehand.[4]
Usage
The building would have been residential, split between rentals and condos. It would have been 900,000-square-feet and contain 800 units.[4]
