Manhattan West is the name of three planned high-rise buildings in New York City , Manhattan . The construction project was developed by the American real estate company Brookfield Properties and designed by the architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill from New York. It is in direct competition with the neighboring Hudson Yards .

The three towers are to be built on the western edge of Midtown Manhattan , not far from the bank of the Hudson River . The following structure is planned (as of January 2019):

  • One Manhattan West : office building, 303 m and 67 floors, opened in 2019.
  • Two Manhattan West: office building, 285 m and 56 floors, under construction.
  • Three Manhattan West: residential building, 223 m and 64 floors, opened in 2017.

With a planned 303 m, the first tower is the tallest of the three buildings. When completed, it would be one of the tallest buildings in the city , a little higher than the Four World Trade Center , but significantly lower than the city's tallest One World Trade Center (541 meters), which opened in November 2014. The second tower was originally supposed to have 66 floors at a height of 371 m. However, it was reduced to 285 m and 56 floors. The third tower is significantly smaller than the other two and was completed in 2017. All high-rise buildings should have uniform glass facades, which shimmer in a dark blue and finish with a slightly rounded roof. The first tower

When the project was first presented to the public in 2008, the plan was to first erect two office towers by 2013. In the meantime, however, this schedule has been discarded as there were few potential tenants in the office space. In April 2011, the New York Times reported that the owner, Brookfield Properties, intends to start construction towards the end of 2011 and that completion is expected in 2018.
