The Great Britain national basketball team, or Team GB for short, was re-established by the national basketball organisations of England, Scotland and Wales on December 1, 2005. It consists of men's and women's sides at senior and Under 20 level (at under-age level, each home nation continues to field separate regional squads).

Its goal is to assemble a combined national team with the ambition of winning a medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London [1].

The senior men's Head Coach is Chris Finch, assisted by Tony Garbelotto (Head Coach of London United Basketball and Hackney Community College Basketball Academy). Its leading players includeBritish NBA star Luol Deng [2], Robert Archibald and Andy Betts.

British Performance Basketball is responsible for co-ordinating and preparing the elite men's and women's basketball teams in Great Britain.

Northern Irish players are eligible to play for a combined Ireland team together with those from the Republic of Ireland.
