Natalie (born Natalie Nicole Alvarado on September 2, 1978) is an American and R&B singer and songwriter.
Biography
Natalie's parents, Joe and Belinda, are both of Mexican descent. She has two sisters, Jackie and Melinda, and one brother, Josh. She found her big break through rapping, being discovered by a talent director at a club. She was previously a Rockets Power Dancer for the Houston Rockets NBA team and also danced backup for artists Frankie J and Baby Bash.
Natalie made her debut as a singer with her hit 2005 single "Goin' Crazy"; the song reached #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Her self-titled debut album Natalie was released in May 2005 and reached #16 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart. Her second single from the album, "Energy" (featuring Baby Bash), peaked at #66. The third & final single "Where Are You" (featuring Justin Roman) failed to chart. A fourth track, "Emptiness" managed to chart on Billboard's R&B Singles chart, although it wasn't released as a single.
She has also collaborated with Baby Bash on the songs "Bubbalicious" and "Throwed Off" from his 2005 album Super Saucy. She joined the Latium World Tour with Baby Bash and Frankie J in 2005. She also has appeared on Chamillionaire's The Sound of Revenge in the song "Think I'm Crazy".
Natalie's second album, Everything New which was released on September 19, 2006. Along with a new album, she has a new hair color; it is now blonde. The first single was "What You Gonna Do" (featuring Bun B), but was quickly pulled after its few radio adds. "Love You So", the 80s-sounding R&B track was selected as her second single, although it's featured as a bonus track on her album. It gained a few more spins than the first single, but it too failed to chart. "Everything New" received good reviews, but failed to chart on the Billboard 200 chart after its first week of release, being short of 2 copies sold to place.
To date, she has had only one music video filmed for the 5 singles she's officially released, that being for "Goin' Crazy", her sole career hit. However, her recently announced third single is "Call Me Up" (with "Dance With Me" planned as the fourth), and a re-release of her album is in the works on December 8, 2006 for online retailers (like Amazon.com).
Natalie also has song writing credits for artists such as Paula DeAnda.
