Jason Patric (born June 17, 1966) is an American film, television and stage actor, and Jackie Gleason's grandson. perhaps best known for his roles in such films as The Lost Boys and The Alamo (in which he played James Bowie).

Biography

Early life

Patric, an Irish American, was born Jason Patric Miller, Jr. in Queens, New York, the son of the Academy Award-nominated actor and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Jason Miller, and Linda Mae (née Gleason), who was the daughter of actor/comedian Jackie Gleason. Patric's half-brother is actor Joshua John Miller. Patric attended Don Bosco Preparatory High School, an all-boys Salesian Roman Catholic school in Ramsey, New Jersey, and Saint Monica Catholic High School in Santa Monica, California. He appeared in high school productions of Dracula and Grease.

Personal life

When his then-best friend Kiefer Sutherland's engagement to Julia Roberts collapsed in June 1991, Julia Roberts ran off to Ireland with Patric. They dated until 1993 when Roberts suddenly married Lyle Lovett.

He dated model Christy Turlington from 1994-2000.

In 2004, Patric was arrested on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest in Austin, Texas, and was involved in a physical confrontation with the arresting officer. Patric claimed the charges were false and that the officer assaulted him. The prosecuting attorney's office later dropped the charges, which included assault on a police officer. He subsequently sued the arresting officer for violating his civil rights, but the federal jury ruled in the officer's favor and Patric won nothing.
