be3 is a television channel in Ireland operated by the TV3 Group, a subsidiary of Virgin Media Ireland. The channel will launch on January 9, 2017 replacing UTV Ireland.[1][2][3]

The channel's studios and headquarters are based at the TV3 Group headquarters in Ballymount in Dublin.

History

In December 2016, the TV3 Group announced it planned to close UTV Ireland and replace it with a new channel called be3 from 9 January 2017. The channel will form part of a line-up of three channels run by the company and will focus on children's and female-orientated programming.[4]

Programming

The channel will provide a wide range of programming generally skewed towards a more female demographic.[5] The stations programming will be a mix of content from TV3 and acquisitions from British TV channel ITV.

News and current affairs

3News Ireland will provide news for the channel with two news programmes airing each night Monday to Friday at 19:00 and 22:00[6].

Entertainment

Be3 will feature Irish produced programmes such as Ireland AM (repeat), Xposé (repeat), The Restaurant (repeat), TV3 News and Elaine (repeat). The channel will also air repeats of US court series Judge Judy. It will also air live ITV's Loose Women and it will also feature ITV shows Surprise Surprise and Who's Doing The Dishes. The channel will also show repeats of Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

Drama

Australian drama series Wentworth Prison airs every Wednesday at 21:00.

Soaps

Repeats of Irish produced soap Red Rock and British soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street will broadcast on the station.

Homegrown Programming

Irish produced content specifically made for the channel includes Rare Breed (previously on UTV Ireland) and Kevin Dundon's Back To Basics (previously on UTV Ireland) will air on be3.

Kids

3Kids is a 3-hour children's strand which airs daily from 07:00 to 10:00.

Syndicated Programming

be3 will air many of ITV's drama programming and live studio shows following a 10-year agreement between ITV plc and the TV3 Group.
