The following is an episode list for the television series Smallville. In the United States, the first episode of the series originally aired on October 16, 2001.[1] The first five seasons aired on The WB; following The WB's merger with UPN in September 2006, Smallville continued on the new, combined network, dubbed The CW.[2] An eighth season was officially announced by The CW on March 3, 2008.[3] As of October 9, 2008, 156 episodes have aired. The first six seasons are currently available on DVD in Regions 1, 2, and 4.

Smallville follows the life of a teenage Clark Kent (Tom Welling) living in the town of Smallville, Kansas at the beginning of the 21st century. Clark Kent copes with his emerging superpowers (x-ray vision, super hearing, etc.), exploration of his extraterrestrial origins and discovering his true destiny. The series also deals with the people in Clark Kent's life: his human parents, Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent; his friends Chloe Sullivan and Pete Ross; his sometime love interest Lana Lang; Chloe's cousin Lois Lane; and his friendship with a young Lex Luthor and how this gradually decays into their mutual enmity of legend.
