Doris Egan (* 1955 ) is an American science fiction and screenwriter .

Life

Egan has been writing screenplays for television series since 1998 and has also worked as a producer since 2001. She grew up in New Jersey and lives in Los Angeles .

The leading actress in the Ivory cycle science fiction novels is Theodora from the planet Pyrene. In the first novel, The Ivory Gate, Theodora is stranded on the oriental planet Ivory, where magic works. She meets Ran, a wizard from a rich family, whom she later marries. Theodora witnessed a power struggle in Ran's family.

In the second novel Schäbige Helden , Ran and Theodora end up in the provinces. They become hostages of a band of robbers, a Robin Hood story develops .

In the third novel, The Guilty verdict , the two solve a murder in the highest circles of the nobility.

The novels have been published in English by Daw Science Fiction since 1989 with the titles The gate of Ivory , Two-bit Heroes and Guilt-edged Ivory . The German edition was published by Heyne Verlag .

Doris Egan wrote the books City of Diamond (1996) and City of Opal under the name Jane Emerson . Of City of Opal only the first chapter was published until now.
