Paper Trail is the sixth studio album by rapper T.I. scheduled to be released September 30, 2008.[1]

Album information

The album was scheduled to be released on August 12, 2008 but it was pushed back to September 30, 2008. He is working on the new studio album while under house arrest on pending gun charges.[2][3] He has completed 50 tracks for the album already. He says that he only likes about 16 of them though and plans to produce about 16 more. The album is entitled Paper Trail, which comes from lyrics he has written down on paper. He abandoned this style of rapping after his first album I'm Serious. "He wanted to take more time to really put something down (this time)," explains his rep.[4] According to his MySpace page, Paper Trail is set to be released September 30th, 2008.[5]

In an official statement from T.I. in a video on StreetCred.com, he talked about the charges against him and also that he had indeed been working on a new album and the title is Paper Trail.[6] He has already recorded at least fifty songs while on house arrest. Confirmed guests are B.o.B., Kanye West & Swizz Beatz. Fall Out Boy is among several artists currently "under consideration" for inclusion on the album, according to T.I.'s label, Atlantic Records.[7] On July 18th, T.I unveiled further details of his much anticipated 6th studio album, saying "It's intense and insightful; it's gonna shake up the game and it's me at my best."[8]

On July 25th, T.I. received a VMA nomination for Best Male Video for the single "No Matter What".

Tracks

About 50 tracks have been confirmed to be recorded,[9] but it is unknown which songs will be included on Paper Trail. In an interview, he announced Let My Beat Pound would be a track by saying "That's gonna be a big record. It's a different record. It's a record I approached differently, and it don't sound like a typical T.I. record. It's basically about when you got your first car, one of the first things was to make sure your [sound] system was right. The love for the boomin' system. It has the sentiments of LL Cool J's 'Boomin' System,' but it kind of sounds like a Sir Mix-A-Lot [song]. It's kinda got the mood and tempo of 'Posse on Broadway.'"

In an official statement, T.I. announced that he will be releasing the first street/promotional song off Paper Trail on Tuesday, April 29 on Streetcred.com. "I already know the demand is great, the anticipation is very high, and the wait is almost over man," T.I. said. "I promise you something special and I will deliver."[10] The song was released on StreetCred.com on April 29th as a promotional single then online for sale on May 6, 2008. It is called "No Matter What" with a music video for the song already being finished [11] and it was released on MTV's FN Premieres on June 27. On July 4, 2008, T.I. added a new song to his MySpace titled "Swing Your Rag".[12] Another track "What Up What's Happenin'" was also leaked to the internet and is now on his MySpace also.[13] T.I. also collaborated with Fall Out Boy on a track called "Out in the Cold".[14] The album's fourth single, which is supposed to be "Collect Call" is going to be released August 8, 2008. The video, and the song are both being released on the same day. The song/video is being released as the new joint of the day on BET's 106 & Park.
