Ghost Rider is a 2007 superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Ghost Rider. The film is directed by Mark Steven Johnson, who also directed the films Daredevil and Simon Birch. Ghost Rider was filmed in Melbourne, Australia.
Plot
A motorcycle stuntman, Johnny Blaze, makes a pact with a dark force, known as Mephisto, selling his soul to save his adopted father. When the bargain goes sour and the man isn't saved, Blaze is transformed into "the spirit of vengeance," Ghost Rider. This incarnation has Johnny Blaze as the human host, but his Ghost Rider form is identical to the 90's Dan Ketch incarnation. He also seems to have the stunt cycle from the Blaze era, but sports the bike chain as a weapon from the Ketch era.
In a trailer for the film, a Phantom Rider cowboy style character appears alongside the Ghost Rider on a skeletal horse with a similar head to Ghost Rider (a flaming skull)

Project history
Director Mark Steven Johnson had posted recently on the SHH! message boards about Johnny Blaze's sound as The Ghost Rider saying:
- "My Sound Designer is Don Davis, who won the Academy Award for The Matrix, and is a true genius when it comes to creating new sounds. To start with, Dane took Nic's reading of all of the Ghost Rider's lines, filtered them through 3 different kinds of animal growls (played backwards, covering three separate frequencies) then played it through a mechanical volumizer, before finally setting the whole thing on fire! It's fantastic. Picture a deep, demonic, mechanical lion's roar and you'll get an idea of what he sounds like. One thing is for sure -- his voice will shake the theatre!"
A bit of movie footage hit the Web on the night of July 28, 2005 and was removed the next morning because it was just meant to be shown at Comic-Con. The studio released a statement explaining that the footage appeared on the website was the earliest version of the character which has not been fully rendered yet, and that the final look of Ghost Rider is still a long way from being realized.
