Proposed deletion of Titsup.com
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Titsup.com, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the <code>dated prod</code> notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. <small>Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice?</small><!-- Template:PRODWarning --> <font color="#FF9966">D</font><font color="#50C878">C</font><font color="#003366">Edwards</font><font color="#CC3333">1966</font> 16:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Surface Condenser
Hello,

one thing i could not understand in the surface condenser article:

Why does the steam need to be condensed to water? Does this not make it lose energy, therefore needing more energy to be put into it again later before it can be returned to the steam turbines? Does this not therefore make the process less efficient as it requires more raw material to re-heat water into steam - when it was steam in the first place?

Thank you in advance, and eagerly awaiting your reply :-) BigSteve (talk) 13:57, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Sri Anirvan
Hi Gurubrahma, I started the Sri Anirvan article for you, using all your links from the India/Quiz. I'm hoping you can help with some specific things, as well as any other improvements you care to make, of course!
* I couldn't access the Banglapedia link you provided, so you might want to check if it had extra info that could be included?
* Do you know how to use Bengali script? I don't, so have put his name in Roman alphabet only for now.
* I don't really know how to do redirect pages - do you? It seems there is an alternate spelling: Sri Aniravan so it'd be great if we could make that page and direct it to this one.

:Thank you for the star, that was very kind! And so is your help. Great to have that redirect page. == Re:Navin Chawla ==

Hi, nice to see your message but unfortunately I neither took that photo nor I knew of Navin Chawla earlier. But yes, a search on Google images showed same face so I assume it is him only. Actually I had uploaded that photo for article Pather Panchali before Dwaipayanc was going to put it on FAC. I took it from library of PIB which donates thousands of photos every year to media and various organizations free of cost. Also PIB website mentions that photos can be used for academic purposes. I had uploaded it on commons under same pretext. --<font color="red" face="cursive">GP</font><font color="black" face="cursive">Pande</font> <font color="blue">talk!</font> 18:38, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Question on Neologisms
According to the appropriate Wiki page, neologisms can be used only if the sources are reliable and they are reliable only if the word is specifically described in the news sources and not just used as a term for the sake of using a term.

What I wanted to ask is that a majority of the news sources on the article use the word in reference to the terrorist network, which is almost always called a "saffron terror network". Does this still appropriate as a term or is it almost used as a name?

Note: This is for future reference and eventual resubmission.<span style="color:silver;">Silver</span><span style="color:blue;">seren</span>C 20:50, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

:I can understand that. It seems to me that Saffron Terror would do much better as a sub-section under Hindu Extremism. I'm still a bit confused as to why that page was ever deleted when we have extremism pages for other religions. As long as it's presented in a non-biased light, the article should be okay. I certainly got more than enough hits on Google News for it. ==RBI==
Well, you know how the Americans think they're the only ones alive on this planet, so most of the things online, go according to their whims and fancies. <br />
So, I thought, let's be a bit fair.<br />
RBI, redirects to Run Batted In, which as we all know is a baseball term, and baseball is an American sport.<br />
Sometime back, a vote was held to redirect it to the disambig page. Someone said, English is NOT a primary language of India, and hence there should be preference to non-Indian artices.<br />
The Americans voted and made the article redirect to Run Batted In, so I feel, we should all have another vote.<br />
So, please vote, on whether you support or oppose the redirect to RBI (disambiguation) rather than Run batted in.<br />
The earlier debate can be found at Talk:RBI (disambiguation). <br />
The new poll can be found at Talk:RBI<br />

Could you go over your deletion and either fix the links or restore the image?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus <font color="green">Talk</font> 17:54, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
:I am pretty sure it was a different image, unfortunately the site I took it from is now offline and I don't have the copy. I can't locate any copy via Google search (there is a thumbnail - in this search that's first image on the left, thrid row (from ipsb.tvp.pl)). And I am having trouble following the history of the image. The image history on en wiki shows you were the only contributor (23:16, 2 April 2006 . . Gurubrahma (C-uploaded PD-Art)) but I'd think that it was me who uploaded the image - and I tend to add sources, captions and categories (which the description of the image you deleted does not have, and which is likely why it was deleted from commons). I would also think I'd have uploaded it to Commons directly - but anyway I cannot find the mention of me uploading this image in my contributions (is the contrib entry deleted along with the image?). Anyway I am sure that this image had a source (site above) and was PD because of age (18th century).--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus <font color="green">Talk</font> 18:30, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
::Update:I see that the image was temporarily moved from Commons, so the problem is on the Commons end. Unfortunately I am not a Commons admin and I can't review old image texts (this is not the first time that problem troubles me, would you happen to know where does one apply for Commons adminship?). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus <font color="green">Talk</font> 18:32, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of :Babuji
A tag has been placed on :Babuji requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>hangon</code> to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. <!-- Template:Db-copyvio-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> Frmatt (talk) 04:43, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Problem with India-specific Theologians
Hi,

In recent times, I have been facing problems with a particular user who is not at all interested in India-specific Theologians. The user keeps adding proposed for deletion tags. Recently, he has compiled a voluminous list of India-specific Theologians whom he proposes to delete .

The user seems to be following three simple steps:

1. Add the tag for deletion and propose it for deletion within a specific period
2. Wait and watch
3. Delete completely

This user, rather I would add, is on a deletion-spree. Kindly check on the user. He succeeded in deleting Scott L. Harris http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Scott_L._Harris&action=edit&redlink=1.

WP:IND Newsletter is back! It's been nearly a year since the last edition, but we hope to bring out issues on a more regular basis now. The India Wikiproject was set up to increasing coverage of India-related topics on Wikipedia, and over the past few months the focus has been on improving article quality. A number of the project's featured articles underwent featured article reviews over the past year. Of these, Darjeeling and Flag of India survived the review process, while the rest were demoted. During the same period, Gangtok, Harbhajan Singh, Darjeeling and Mysore were featured on the main page respectively on August 20, September 17, November 6 and December 29, 2009. Meanwhile, articles on topics as diverse as Political history of Mysore and Coorg (1565–1760), Marwari horse and Iravan were promoted as featured articles, and respectively appeared on the main page on March 25, May 17 and May 28, 2010. Consequently, the number of FA-class articles under the project's scope dropped from 67 in August 2009 to 63 in June 2010. The number of good articles, however, saw a more than 40% increase, from 91 to 130 during the same period, while the number of featured lists saw a 33% increase from 12 to 16.

Due to the recent policy changes regarding unreferenced Biographies of Living People (BLPs), an effort was started in January 2010 to source all unreferenced BLPs coming under Wikiproject India. 1200 such articles were identified initially and more were added to the list later. Due to the sourcing effort, the number of Indian unreferenced BLPs is down to 565 currently. During February-April 2010, There was a large scale disruption of Kerala related articles by a Thrissur based IP vandal. Editing from a dynamic IP BSNL connection, the vandal changed dates of birth, death and ages of a number of Malayalam and Tamil film actors. Later he added a few international biographies to his list. He also marked some living people like Arvind Swamy as dead. A month long range block was imposed on his IP range two times and each time he came back to vandalise dates once the block expired. Currently the range has been blocked for three months till September 11, 2010.

My friend,

*The World Classical Tamil Conference 2010 is at present underway in Coimbatore, and the Tamil Wikipedia is actively involved at the event. A detailed report will follow in the next issue.
Apologies for my lack of replies to your encouraging messages of late! Thank you for letting me know that people were concerned about some decisions of mine at AfD - I hadn't consciously noticed that I had pronounced upon two India-related articles in quick succession, and that doing so could look like bias. Hopefully I gave a good account of my reasoning on the talk page in question, and I'm pleased that an article that stresses the notability of the first one has usefully replaced the previous one that failed to assert any notability at all (or even manage any content!). I always worry how new editors will be put off by an empty article when a redlink would attract them instead.

*Wikimania 2010 is happening in Poland from July 7-11. Indian Wikipedians attending include Gurubrahma, Shiju Alex, Ravidreams , Santhosh Thottingal, Tinu Cherian, WMF Board member Bishakha Datta and Advisory Board member Achal Prabala. We wish them all the best! More on their experiences in the next issue.
I've been busy in real life of late, but have such a strong wikiaddiction that I still manage to put in an average of 3 hours a day! There's a lot of work on Image: that I do fitfully - the admin tools have been so very useful there!

If you've just joined, add your name to the Members section of WikiProject India. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!
Your influence has been profound in my real life as well: one of my hobbies (reflected now in my new WikiProject) is Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemeteries on the Western Front of World War I. I live part of the time right on top of this area, so wandering off to a cemetery is somewhat easy to do. I now make a point of looking for - and looking after - graves from Undivided India, to add to my RAF duties (my father was in the RAF, so I have an affinity). Thanks to my friendship with, and respect of, you I have spent some time looking for, clearing rubbish from and photographing Indian WWI graves. I even attended a small service by the India memorial beside the Menin Gate a few months ago - nothing major, just a group of people lighting candles for peace. Nobody asked me to explain the presence of a Welsh white guy... fortunately... imagine the looks I would have got from the reply, "well, I have a wise internet friend I respect and that friend might like it if I stood here... but no, that friend is completely unaware that I'm here... please don't arrest me!" :o) I could have made it worse, of course, by saying "my mother's father's mother's father's father was from Sri Lanka!" - true (I've discovered) but an even more painfully poor explaination! :o)

Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 2 – (July 2010)). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!
So, in short, all is well with me and I hope all is well with you too. Thank you for keeping an eye on me and for your continuing help and advice which I value and respect. If you see people wondering about my decisions, please direct them to me: nothing I do is unrevertable and I'm happy to be told I'm wrong (although I'm happy to argue about how I'm right!).

Hi, I have just now made a nomination for DYK of an article unstubbed on 24/June. It seems rather inconspicuous, in the middle os a sea of old nominations, so I am pinging you to draw attention -- if you ever promote it, it must be in the next 24 hours at the latest. My dear Gurubrahma, your kind message has meant so much to me, that I can hardly find the words to express myself. I have seen you around for a long time, and both the insight and the kindness that steam from you writings are simply inspiring. The mere fact that you've taken the time to express your generous ideas to me has enlightened my day, and they have made me think deeply about applying. Beyond my personal circumstances, I can assure you that you've already had deep influence in my upcoming decisions. But above everything, I see this as a great oportunity to finally get acquainted to a Wikipedian that I sincerely and wholeheartedly admire - and I value that more than anything else. Know that you'll always have a friend in me should you decide to honor me with your friendship as well. Someday, we'll have to talk more about the wisdom of your culture, if you don't mind to instruct a complete ignorant in these matters like I am. Thanks for your kind words. I have to admit that I didn't know about the speedy-related userspace templates until a few days ago, but now that I do, I plan to keep using them. After a missed issue, the WP:IND newsletter is back on track to being a regular bimonthly feature. The Indian WikiProject has seen plenty of online and off-line action, both in English as well as other Indian languages, and we now have a bigger, better format that intends to feature content and news from the English as well as other Indian language Wikipedias.

Reaching out to Indians has been the theme of the Indian Wikiproject over the past couple of months, aiming to involve a greater number of Indians in editing both the English and Indian language Wikipedias. To this end, efforts to set up the Indian chapter of Wikimedia have moved into their final stages, and registration of the society is currently pending. An effort is underway to push for "WikiMarathons" at meetups, where attendees will be encouraged to edit the English and/or Indian language Wikipedias. This is intended to popularise Wikipedia editing among the general public. In addition, a bot to post DYK's from the Indian Wikiproject to Twitter was created and launched by User:Logicwiki.

Regrettably, the number of Featured Articles has dropped from 63 in June to 58 at the end of October 2010. Several FAs came up for review and were delisted, while Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India was saved. Meanwhile, Chalukya Dynasty appeared on the main page on July 9, 2010. Hearteningly, the number of Good Articles increased from 130 to 136 during the same period, while the number of Featured Lists remained constant at 16.

The source code for the Article Alert Bot is now available and the bot itself is expected to be up and running very shortly. This means that article alerts for the Indian Wikiproject will again be available, enabling editors to easily keep track of developments in respect of reviews, nominations, deletions etc.

This has brought Tamil to the 10th place (from 17) in the list of largest wiktionaries and has earned it a place in the Wiktionary front page logo. In addition, Tamil Wikipedians set up a stall at the WCTC and introduced Tamil Wiki projects to people from all walks of life.

I would like to join event Wikipedia's 10th anniversary Date 12 January 2011 at Indian Institute of Management Indore
Castes and Tribes of the Punjab
My Self Surendra Singh Virhe I am a Spiritual leader,Social Activist,Life Coach, Writer From Indore India.
Dear Sir, I am asking your opinion on this festering dispute that has developed between myself and Satbir Singh since the past few days.
I would like to join event Wikipedia's 10th anniversary Date 12 January 2011 at Indian Institute of Management Indore. Please guide me how can i ensure my entry or registration? if possible send me invitation for my Organization representation.

I am The Founder of a youth Organization UTKARSH...
The facts of the matter are like this:

We are working for Public and social welfare from last 12 years, our Organization is identified by the name:
I created a template called Castes and Tribes of the Punjab with a view to studying the caste and tribal groups that exist in what was the ancient Punjab region (Punjab (Pakistan), Punjab (India), Haryana and Himachal Pradesh). My intention, unlike any Ibbetsons, Todds or Cunninghams was to study these groups from a purely anthropological perspective sans any controversy so that people visiting this portal would get to know about the huge mosaic that my province (I am a Punjabi) is.

I started with a few groups. But soon enough the groups began to increase. For the sake of brevity, I grouped them under Categories. As the template evolved, I learnt not to name any category speculatively.

Utkarsh Samajik Shaikshanik Anusandhan Avam Gramin Vikas Sansthan.
The final categories were:

#Brahmin groups.
#Dalit groups.
#Jat clans.
#Khatris and other groups.
#Rajput clans.
#Shaikhs and other groups.
#Tarkhans and other groups.
#Others (groups to which i could not attribute any specific status).

As Utkarsh we are working on the grass root level for the welfare of society. As we look for a general introduction of Utkarsh
In the last (Others), I also included groups such as Kamboj, Khasa, Ahir and Gujjar. However, Satbir Singh separated them and bunched them under a new category called "Surviving Ancient Kshatriya Tribes".
Utkarsh organization was established in the year 1998 with a motive to eradicate social evils that are deep routed in our society since long and also to fight against various cultural and environmental problems that are growing rapidly in our society.

Since that day, a revert war has been on between the two of us. According to Satbir, these groups such as the Ahirs (the ancient Abhiras), the Gujjars (Gurjaras), the Khas (the Khasas), the Kamboj (Kambojas) and Yadav (Yadavas) are ancient Kshatriya tribes mentioned in a number of ancient Sanskrit texts.

Due to unfavorable conditions that are prevailing in our rural and urban cultural environment, today’s youth and affluent class is getting socially insensible and self centered, so with a view to change this narrow thinking, doing something constructive for society and to bring social reforms, a group of youth established Utkarsh.
My own personal opinion is that all this is true. However, some points must be noted:

I hope you will ensure my entry for Wikipedia's 10th anniversary Celebration at IIM Indore.
#The Varna System is a topic subject to a lot of controversy and dispute. I have been noticing this in recent weeks. Pages such as Khatri, Rajput, Kayastha and Bhumihar have been vandalised because many people don't agree with the Varna status of these groups.
With Regards
#If the Ahirs, the Gujjars, the Khasaa, the Kambojas and the Yadavas are Kshatriya groups, then so are the Rajputs, Jats, Khatris, Tarkhans et al. I did not create a category entitled "Kshatriya groups" in the first place because I knew I was treading on soft ground. All the above mentioned castes claim Kshatriya status. But we all know, how disputable these claims are.
Surendra Singh Virhe
#The rigmarole that is the Varna System is known to us all. For example, the Jats, who in the Vedic and Mythological periods were workers should be placed in the Shudra Category under the Varna System. But many Jats clans consider themselves the equal and perhaps the superior of Rajputs as adhrents of Kshatriya Dharma. My own caste, the Khatris and related groups such as Aroras claim Kshatriya status. But we have seen on the Khatri page as to what became of that claim.
UTKARSH SANSTHAN
#Ahirs, Gujjars and Yadavs are considered to be OBCs in most Indian states inspite of their being the descendants of ancient Abhiras, Gurjaras and Yadus. There is a controversy raging on the Yadav page presently if I am not wrong, on the status of the caste.

Hi!
Taking all these points into consideration and being aware of the fact that there are users (say Sanjay Mohan and Holywarrior, who have caused great disputes on various caste pages, I proposed categories such as "Kambojs and related groups" (Kamboj, Kamboja, Kamboh and Khasa) and "Gujjars and realted groups" (Ahirs, Gujjars, Dhangars and Bakarwals). But Satbir Singh and another user named Sze cavalry01 objected to it. They returned to "Ancient Kshatriya Tribes". I did a little compromise by making it "Ancient Warrior Tribes", which I later realised would also be POV.
I've undone those edits...please make sure to verify before editing!
Therefore, I changed it to just "Ancient Tribes" - A completely unspeculative term.
regards,
Karan Gupta

Dear Gurubrahma,
Please can you get in touch with me?
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
Gurubrahma, you can send an email to me through my website here; http://www.myspace.com/aidanjohnwork. I see that there's a few errors I would like to point out to you. - (202.68.89.4 11:26, 24 July 2006 (UTC))

So a few things about the interviews:
Quick hello
* Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
* Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
* All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
* All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
* The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Extended confirmed protection
{{ivmbox|1=Hello, Gurubrahma. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
* Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
* A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you. <br><small>This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. == Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins ==

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. == A new user right for New Page Patrollers ==

Hi BASEPAGENAME.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. <small>(Sent to all admins)</small>.MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

I, David Webb, am the one that created the silver 3d Air Force Symbol in 2003 for the 314 Fuels Management Flight API (Advanced Petroleum Institute) Award. I spoke with Air Force PR and Licensing yesterday about this. They agree that I should be credited for my work. The AF symbol was created in paint shop pro and imported via corel draw. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)</small>

How we will see unregistered users
<section begin=content/>
Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you.

Established policy provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have not made any edits or logged actions in the preceding twelve months. Because you have been inactive, your administrative permissions will be removed&#32;if you do not return to activity within the next month.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to rejoin the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to rejoin the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

Proposed deletion of Titsup.com[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Titsup.com, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? DCEdwards1966 16:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Surface Condenser[edit]

Hello,

one thing i could not understand in the surface condenser article:

Why does the steam need to be condensed to water? Does this not make it lose energy, therefore needing more energy to be put into it again later before it can be returned to the steam turbines? Does this not therefore make the process less efficient as it requires more raw material to re-heat water into steam - when it was steam in the first place?

Thank you in advance, and eagerly awaiting your reply :-) BigSteve (talk) 13:57, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sri Anirvan[edit]

Hi Gurubrahma, I started the Sri Anirvan article for you, using all your links from the India/Quiz. I'm hoping you can help with some specific things, as well as any other improvements you care to make, of course!

 • I couldn't access the Banglapedia link you provided, so you might want to check if it had extra info that could be included?
 • Do you know how to use Bengali script? I don't, so have put his name in Roman alphabet only for now.
 • I don't really know how to do redirect pages - do you? It seems there is an alternate spelling: Sri Aniravan so it'd be great if we could make that page and direct it to this one.

Thank you for the star, that was very kind! And so is your help. Great to have that redirect page. When I tried a different computer I finally did get into to the Banglapedia page, so I added something too, as well as the info Amondal provided on my talk page. Re:Navin Chawla[edit]

--GPPande talk! 18:38, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question on Neologisms[edit]

According to the appropriate Wiki page, neologisms can be used only if the sources are reliable and they are reliable only if the word is specifically described in the news sources and not just used as a term for the sake of using a term.

What I wanted to ask is that a majority of the news sources on the article use the word in reference to the terrorist network, which is almost always called a "saffron terror network". Does this still appropriate as a term or is it almost used as a name?

Note: This is for future reference and eventual resubmission.SilverserenC 20:50, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand that. SilverserenC 14:29, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RBI[edit]

Well, you know how the Americans think they're the only ones alive on this planet, so most of the things online, go according to their whims and fancies.
So, I thought, let's be a bit fair.
RBI, redirects to Run Batted In, which as we all know is a baseball term, and baseball is an American sport.
Sometime back, a vote was held to redirect it to the disambig page. Someone said, English is NOT a primary language of India, and hence there should be preference to non-Indian artices.
The Americans voted and made the article redirect to Run Batted In, so I feel, we should all have another vote.
So, please vote, on whether you support or oppose the redirect to RBI (disambiguation) rather than Run batted in.
The earlier debate can be found at Talk:RBI (disambiguation).
The new poll can be found at Talk:RBI

Speedy deletion nomination of Babuji[edit]

A tag has been placed on Babuji requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Gurubrahma! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the list:

Problem with India-specific Theologians[edit]

Hi,

In recent times, I have been facing problems with a particular user who is not at all interested in India-specific Theologians. The user keeps adding proposed for deletion tags. Recently, he has compiled a voluminous list of India-specific Theologians whom he proposes to delete [2].

The user seems to be following three simple steps:

1. Add the tag for deletion and propose it for deletion within a specific period 2. Wait and watch 3. Delete completely

This user, rather I would add, is on a deletion-spree. Kindly check on the user. He succeeded in deleting Scott L. Harris 3.

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 1 - (June 2010)[edit]

Project News

What's New?
Current proposals and discussions

 • A discussion is in progress here in order to determine whether non-Western (including Indian) forms of classical music should be referred to by the nomenclature of art music instead of classical music. Please participate and add your comments.
 • Watchlist the Articles for Deletions page for India related discussions. Opinions from more Indian Wikipedians are required in many of the discussions.

If you've just joined, add your name to the Members section of WikiProject India. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 2 - November 2010[edit]

English WikiProject News

What's New?

The date change vandal mentioned briefly in the previous issue made a reappearance when the range block on his IP range expired in September. Consequently the block was extended till September 2011.

In October there was a heated discussion in the India project noticeboard regarding the copyright status of the Indian party symbols. The discussion was triggered by the deletion of Wiki San Roze's party symbol images by Hammersoft as copyright violations. No resolution was reached, partly because of our inability to explain to Hammersoft how election symbols in India differ from party logos. Comments are requested from anyone with a background in Indian copyright law to clarify this issue.

MSU Interview[edit]

Dear Gurubrahma,

So a few things about the interviews:

 • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
 • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
 • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
 • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
 • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talkcontribs) 23:43, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Anjali Bhagwat[edit]

The article Anjali Bhagwat has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article has no references

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Extended confirmed protection[edit]

Hello, Gurubrahma.

 • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
 • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins[edit]

A new user right for New Page Patrollers[edit]

Hi Gurubrahma.

(Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity[edit]

Information icon Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in more than one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e. as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised, that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions, and that you have not been inactive for a three-year period of time). If you remain inactive for a three-year period of time, including the present year you have been inactive, you will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFA. This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. — xaosflux Talk 01:37, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)[edit]

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Pushpendra Kumar Garg has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. How we will see unregistered users[edit]

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

New administrator activity requirement[edit]

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

 1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
 2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity[edit]

Information icon Established policy provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have not made any edits or logged actions in the preceding twelve months. Because you have been inactive, your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to activity within the next month.

Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:06, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kalka (1983 film) moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Kalka (1983 film), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 10:49, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
