(15727) Ianmorison is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on October 10, 1990 by Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel at the observatory of the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg .

The asteroid is named after Ian Morison , an astronomer at the Jodrell Bank Radio Observatory at Manchester University .
