(1623) Vivian is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 9 August 1948 by E. L. Johnson , from the Union Observatory in Johannesburg , was discovered off.
The asteroid bears the name of the daughter of WP Hirst, who calculated the orbit of this and several other asteroids discovered by Johnson.
