(1700) Zvezdara is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on August 26, 1940 by the Serbian astronomer Petar Ðjurković in Belgrade .
The name of the asteroid is derived from the Belgrade district of Zvezdara , where the observatory founded in 1934 is located. Zvezdara is the Serbian word for observatory .
