(24944) Harish-Chandra is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 11 June 1997 by the American Italo- astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory ( IAU code 684) was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the Indian mathematician Harish-Chandra (1923–1983).
