(4161) Amasis is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 24, 1960 by the research team Cornelis Johannes van Houten , Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels as part of the Palomar-Leiden survey .
The asteroid was named after the Egyptian pharaoh Amasis .
