(5002) Marnix is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 20 September 1987 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the Rozhen Observatory in Bulgaria was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the Dutch writer and politician Philips van Marnix , who is considered to be the author of the Dutch national anthem Het Wilhelmus .
