(6198) Shirakawa is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 10 January 1992 by the Japanese astronomer Tsutomu Hioki and Shuji Hayakawa at the observatory in Okutama ( IAU code 877) in Tokyo was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the city of Shirakawa in Fukushima Prefecture .
