(7871) Tunder is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 22 September 1990 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code of 809) European Southern Observatory was discovered.
The celestial body is named after the German composer and organist Franz Tunder (1614–1667).
