(8749) The Beatles is an asteroid of the main belt , which after the famous rock band The Beatles was named. It was discovered on April 3, 1998 by the Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton at his private observatory , the Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428), in Queensland , Australia.
