(878) Mildred is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 6 September 1916 by the US astronomer Seth Barnes Nicholson at Mount Wilson Observatory was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the daughter of the American astronomer Harlow Shapley .
He was missing for a long time and was only found in 1991 by Gareth Vaughan Williams with recordings dating back to 1985.
