Álvaro Mesén Murillo (born December 24, 1972 in Alajuela ) is a former Costa Rican soccer player .

Career

The goalkeeper began his career with LD Alajuelense in 1992 , to whom he remained loyal for a total of twelve years until 2004. In 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 he won the Costa Rican championship with the team, and in 2004 he won the CONCACAF Champions League . It was during this time that the call- ups for the Gold Cup 2000 , Gold Cup 2002 , Gold Cup 2003 and the call to the Costa Rican squad for the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea also fell . In total, he comes to three games in gold cups. In 2002 he finished second with the team and third in 2003.

In 2004 he moved to CS Herediano within the Costa Rica League. During this time he was called up for the Gold Cup 2005 , in which he came to two missions. At the 2006 World Cup in Germany , he was again in the Costa Rica squad, but was not used.

In 2006 he moved to Brujas FC and in 2007 to Municipal Liberia. In 2009 he was able to receive his seventh championship title.
