Ævar Örn Jósepsson

Ævar Örn Jósepsson (born August 25, 1963 in Hafnarfjörður , Iceland ) is a detective writer , journalist and translator , who became known in Germany for his detective novels.

Life

With his three siblings Ævar Örn Jósepsson spent his childhood in Garðabær and Hafnarfjörður (metropolitan area of Reykjavík ), later near Akranes , before he attended high school there until 1983 and graduated from high school. In 1981/1982 he went to Belgium as an exchange student . In 1986 and 1987 he studied journalism , political science and philosophy at the University of Stirling / Scotland . Ævar Örn Jósepsson obtained his master's degree in philosophy and English literature at the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg in 1994 .

Before publishing his first crime novel in 2002, he was active in a variety of ways. He worked for radio, television, newspapers, was a bank clerk, made translations, freelance or employed and initially - during his stay in the port city of Akranes - he even hired himself out on fishing boats.

Ævar Örn Jósepsson is President of Skandinaviska Kriminalsällskapet , the association of Scandinavian crime writers (SKS, Crime Writers of Scandinavia). He lives with his wife Sigrún Guðmundsdóttir and their two daughters in the municipality of Mosfellsbær , north of the Icelandic capital Reykjavík.
