Personal

Mwe di Malila Apenela was born in Matadi , in the Bas-Congo territory . He was the illegitimate child of a Swiss and a Congolese of Cabindian origin. His second name, Héritier, is dedicated to his father. Through his mother he belonged to the tribe of the Woyos, a tribe whose members live in Cabinda and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . The former kingdom of the Ngoyos , whose kings and nobles were called "Mwe" but also " Mwene " or "Ma", was located in this area. Thus he is also of aristocratic origin, as his name corresponds to this origin. Mwe di Malila later worked mainly in the real estate business. He owned many properties and land in downtown Kinshasa as well as in Muanda . The former Vice Minister for International Relations and National Integration Franck Mwe di Malila is one of his numerous children .

AS Dragons Kinshasa

Edouard Mwe di Malila Apenela joined the AS Dragons Kinshasa club in 1969 and ran it. On his arrival he brought in players like Pembele Ngunza, Magie Mafwala and Romain Bamuleke. When the club later changed its name to Bilima, he continued to give instructions and was twice in the final of the African Cup of Champions Club with his team in the 80s . Thanks to its moral and financial commitment, the team was able to win the Congolese championship. In 1986, Bilima stood for the second time in its history in the 22nd African Cup in the final against FAR Rabat . However, FAR Rabat was too strong. Mwe di Malila Apenela later left the board of the club to leave the control and direction to others. However, he remained available to his club as honorary president and sponsor.

Others

When Mwe di Malila Apenela died, he left a large real estate empire to his numerous (around 19) children. This fact sparked a big argument in his family: Only four of his children were declared legitimate heirs. This case is being heard in the Kinshasa Supreme Court . Due to his social commitment and his popularity, the Congolese musician Kwamy wrote a song that is dedicated to him after his death. It is called "Vea Mokonzi". Mokonzi is Lingala and means something like leader, king or patron.
