Émile Chambon

Émile François Chambon (born January 10, 1905 in Geneva , † October 28, 1993 in Collonge-Bellerive ) (citizen of Carouge GE) was a Swiss painter .

Life

Émile Chambon was born in Geneva as the son of Emile-Joseph Chambon and his wife Joséphine Coppier. As an artist of the 20th century, the Geneva painter Émile Chambon has always remained independent of the greatest artistic movements of his era, despite the dealings he had with his contemporaries. He has always admired the works of Gustave Courbet , Caravaggio or Félix Vallotton , for whom he had a great passion, and figurative painting. Cubism and Surrealism influenced him a lot, although Chambon never felt that he belonged to either style. Personalities such as Louise de Vilmorin , who regularly supported the artist, or Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan , with whom Chambon shared his passion for primitive art, he counted among his circle of friends.
