Eric Ruf
Éric Ruf (born May 21, 1969 in Belfort ) is a French actor, set designer, theater and opera director. Ruf has played at the Comédie-Française since 1993 , has been a member ( societaire ) since 1998 and head ( administrateur général ) of the house since 2014 .
life and career
Éric Ruf studied at the École nationale supérieure des arts appliqués et des Métiers d'arts (ENSAAMA) and at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'Art dramatique. He made his theater debut in 1992 at the Avignon Festival in L'Éducation d'un prince , by Marivaux . In 1993 he got his first engagement at the Comédie-Française, where he made his stage debut at the Théâtre du Vieux Colombier in a play by Michel Vinaver .
Ruf has taught at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique and at the Cours Florent . He is the brother of the theater and film director Jean-Yves Ruf. He is married to the actress Florence Viala, also from the Comédie-Française.

Prizes and awards
In 1999 Ruf was awarded the Prix Gérard-Philipe de la Ville de Paris and in 2007 the Molière for stage decoration and the role of Christian in a production of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Comédie-Française by Denis Podalydès . In 2012 he received the Prix Beaumarchais du Figaro and the Grand Prix du syndicat de la Critique as play of the year for his production of Peer Gynt . He received another Molière in 2016 for his adaptation of Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea .
Éric Ruf is Commandeur des Ordre des Arts et Lettres .
