Mon chien stupide is a 2019 French film directed by Yvan Attal. It is based on the 1985 novel of the same name by John Fante .

action

In a midlife crisis , Henri begins to blame his wife Cécile and his four children for his misfortunes, his lack of libido and his back pain. When his wife discovers a huge dog in the garden of the family house, Henri decides to take him into the family against Cecile's wishes and baptizes him “stupide” (dt. “Stupid”).

The film was shot in the French Basque Country , in Biarritz , Arcangues , Bidart , Guéthary and Hendaye .

While director Yvan Attal plays the main role of the family man Henri, his partner Charlotte Gainsbourg plays his wife and their son Ben Attal, one of the teenage children. After My Wife the Actress (2001) and Happy Ending with Obstacles (2003), where Ben Attal was a child actor, this is the third such cast in Yvan Attal's films.

The dog Stupide is a Mastino Napoletano .
